Racing RC Cars
Today I went to the RC Car track as I think it was the first race with the new track. The guys gere are really great and I had a really fun time. I took my car, even though I had no intention of racing it. They told me they really wanted me to... so I raced... if you can call it that! I was pretty pathetic, I had never been on the track before. They grouped the cars by class. Mine is the closest one (with the green and pink). On the left is one class, the center ones w

RC Car & Kim Heading to Indiana
I bought an RC car yesterday. While they have a race track here, I don't think I'm competitive enough to race, but I know I'll enjoy driving it and make some new friends through the hobby. I explained to the guy at the hobby store that I don't really care to race; I just want to have fun and take the car home to play with it and the grandkids. Kim and I were really happy when he knew just the one he would recommend, and then took us out to his truck and got out the one he

Moving to Val Vista RV Resort
We moved this week to Val Vista Resort, which is just a mile from where we were before. In January, we visited about six resorts, and this was our favorite. The grounds are well kept, the staff is friendly, and their amenities (pools, wood shop, etc) are just very well kept up. As we walked through the park, the people were just very friendly. Yesterday, I went to the office early to get a first-come, first-served reservation for next year. If you already have a winter co

Window Repairs and New Friends
We will be moving to Val Vista RV Park next Thursday. It is only a mile away. This is our neighbor's rig across the street from where we will be parked. He's a farmer from North Dakota. Most of the units on the street are park models. There are only three RV spaces. Including ours, all three will be Newmar Dutch Stars. We have dual-pane windows in the MH, and as the seals age, the gas leaks out of them (See the foggy windows above). Today we are having them serviced. Ne

The Flea Market & What's Happening
This is actually a garden planted in our park. It was 84 today. Very nice weather. They have food trucks come to the park on Thursday afternoons. The chicken alfredo was good, and the people at the truck were very nice! We walk every morning and afternoon in the park. Here are two motorhomes with dogs on the dash. They didn't bark or even move. They just watched us. We went to the flea market in Mesa. It is absolutely huge, and it's under a roof because it gets pretty h

Arizona Sunsets & Looking at Other Parks
Sunsets here are pretty! We took this pic last night. Some of the sites at campgrounds are really colorful! Kim and Annie are taking it easy. I think Annie is enjoying retirement. This RV is pretty neat. It is like a sheep or shepherd's cabin made in Utah. Here's a trailer that lies flat on the ground for unloading low-profile cars. We visited four different parks yesterday. One had lots of grass. That is unusual, as grass here is considered a luxury, as it must be water

Breakdowns are Inevitable
A few days ago, the Suburban started making a noise. I thought it was possibly the alternator bearing. We scheduled it at a Chevy dealership and took it to be serviced this morning at 9. Just as we were about to leave the park onto the street, I heard something lock up and saw smoke from the fan belt. I turned off the engine and got out to look. I called the Chevy dealership, and the whole experience was a fiasco. When I called, if I pushed the service button, I got a la

Looking at Other Parks and Some Repairs
We plan to be in the area for the winter and also to look to see if there are other parks that we might want to stay at in the future. We plan to start looking at other parks starting tomorrow. We're at Mesa Spirit now. The city is built around us, and the area is like driving in a city, not just a town. Outside the city, parks offer views of the mountains and desert. I think we would like that. Deserts here aren't just sand; they are hills, mountains, and cactus (that

RV Show in Quartzite, AZ
Yesterday we attended the large RV show in Quartzite, AZ. We drove the suburban. It was about two hours and ten minutes there. We were surprised by all the un-RV stuff there. Many of the booths were just selling things to make old people's aches and pains go away. There was an interesting diversity in people there. Some were in electric scooters, some looked affluent, and others looked like they just came from the backwoods. The tent was pretty big, and the weather was

Getting ready for the Quartzite RV Show!
When walking Annie this morning, we were looking for a trash container to throw her poop bag in. Kim said, “There’s one!”… and then realized it was a big, blue mailbox… We both laughed! We also had a trailer by the office that had Alaskan seafood, so we bought some. They come every other Friday. We are headed to Quartzite for the big RV show tomorrow. It will be exciting. We’re just taking the suburban. We will leave at 7, and get there a little after 9 when it opens.

Our First Journey
Having retired at the end of 2025, Kim and I are traveling from Goshen, IN, to Mesa, AZ. We have a 2018 Newmar Dutch Star (Floor plan 4369) motorhome. We purchased it in August in Florida and had it home until late September, when we took it to Lebanon, TN (a suburb of Nashville, TN), to The National Indoor RV Center (NIRVC). It is a full dealership, motor home/service/storage facility. They have 5 stores in the US. This Nashville location can store 500 motorhomes inside
